THIS IS POP (YEAH YEAH!)
Boston Pop Underground is a live music series featuring the best local and national indie/alt-pop artists. (Not "pop" as in the Top-40 diva du jour -- pop as in The Beatles, The Kinks, The Beach Boys, Big Star, Cheap Trick, Badfinger, Elvis Costello, Jellyfish, Jon Brion, Neil Finn, Michael Penn, The Posies, Squeeze, XTC... you get the idea.) This genre's known for memorable melodies, soaring harmonies, thoughtful lyrics, irresistable hooks, and a love of the craft of songwriting. And while its sound may have roots in the '60s and '70s, today's pop practitioners are giving it a distinctly modern spin. Boston Pop Underground is proud to give it a home, a spotlight, and an audience here in Boston.
